Performing a Maintenance Effectiveness AUDIT takes time. Mixed teams have to be away from the work place for a number of days. Outside consultants can be costly. Invest in AMy (Audit Maintenance yourself) software to find out what you are doing (or what you are not doing) and save money by doing your own maintenance audit at a time suitable to you.
To audit all or a specific section have a mix of representation from the work force and check all paperwork in use e.g. work request, store requisition, work order open/close etc.
Print questions, discuss and answer as a percentage of completion.
Example if asking "is a work order issued for all work to be done before a job is started"? the management may say "yes of course" and the craftsman may say "never".
Reports of results can be run showing current practices.
An improvement plan can be formulated using the results as a starting point.
Perform regular audits and generate progress reports for management.
